Lanes, Rights of way, Land Rovers.....
I'm signing in as a new member, my name is Dave, I live in SW London and drive a much loved 1995 300 TDi Defender 110". Its RAF grey with lots of scratches from overgrown lanes. I'm a member of the South London and Surrey Land Rover club and I'm their Rights of Way officer (what a grand title!). I try to go laning once a month or do some kind of Land Rover activity, any more than that and I get distracted and turn into a Land Rover nut.
So far this year We've been laning in the peak District of Derbyshire, Kent, Sussex (before the NERC Bill took away all the RUPPS), Wales, and then of course Hampshire/ Wiltshire/Surrey. September will be a day trip around Surrey and Hampshire and October will be our club's annual London to Brighton run (approx 750 vehicles joined us last year).
I've owned Land Rovers for about 20yrs, I like real Ale and my favourite bands are the Afro Celt Sound System and the Peat Bog Faeries.
Hello to all you Land Rover people!
Dave

Dave,
Welcome to the group! A lot of people in the USA would really like to have the Land Rover model you motor around in!. I--too-- like the Afro Celt Sound System, but I'm not in the know about the Peat Bog Faeries. I'll have to check 'em out.

Mike McLaughlin

Thanks for the reply Mike,
The Peatbogs are excellent, Highland pipes, fiddle, whistles, lead and base guitar, full drum kit. Best seen live of course, I don't know if they'll tour the states, best check out their website and also myspace.

You may like Martyn Bennett also, especially cd Bothy Culture.
Are there restrictions on where you can use your LR in the US?
We are not popular over here, mostly due, I feel to ignorance and the desire to blame someone for the state the world is in.
