Lease vs Buy Range Rover HSE

Lease vs Buy Range Rover HSE
I've been a fan of the Range Rover HSE, and super charge versions since about 2003? when the new design launched and I think I'm going to finally bite the bullet and get one of these bad boys.
I currently own a Mercedes E500 which I will be giving to my wife. Here is my confusion. I own a small consulting business and mostly use public transportation to/from work I work in Midtown Manhattan and only drive on the weekends definitely less than 10k miles a year which is why leasing is very attractive to me but I find the leasing options a bit too high why can't you lease pre-owned vehicles?? I would easily love to go with a 2007/2008 Model keeping my payments ~$700 or less I live in Long Island. It seems leasing a 2010 will run me roughly $1200 - $1400 which is way out my budget.
My second option is to buy a pre-owned out right I see the 2007/2008 going for about ~$44,000 - $49,000 if I put down about $10,000 to $15k may payments are very reasonable.
Given that I only drive on the weekends mostly local in my town (shopping, movies, dinner) What is the best option for me? What should I look out for if I plan to own a Range Rover from Circa 2006-2008?
Any advise is appreciated thanks.
