Default N00b here

New to the site and to land rovers. Just picked up a 2005 Range Rover this past week. So far I am loving it!

Terrific. Change oil early and often, usually 5000 mile drain interval, and use a good diesel rated oil (it cleans the engine better, even on gas engines) - Shell Rotella is cheap and widely available. These engines suffer from previous owners that neglected oil changes and other items.

Lots of electronics on your truck, battery needs to be in tip top shape and all battery terminals clean enough to kiss, for best operation. Lots of gremlins lurk where batterys are weak.

The RAVE technical manuals set of Land Rover factory manuals is a free download below. Has shop, owners, electrical, and other choices for each version of Land Rover.

The great danger to these all aluminum engines is heat. Rover designed thgauges to provide a normal reading for a wide range. If you see it creeping above "normal" - don't assume that just because you are not at the edge you are OK. The guage is more of an idiot light with a pointer than a linear test meter.

Post early and often.

Thanks for the info! I'm going to check the battery terminals today and clean them if necessary.
