I have the lever and cable unhooked inside the vehichle and was fixing to pull the new cable through the fire wall then I looked at the hood latching mechanism and need to Know if I need to drill out the 3 rivets to get to the cable end at the latch area?

I just replaced the hood release cable on my '99 DII a few weeks ago, and yes, you will need to drill out the rivets. I've just left off the plastic cover thus far.

 

Thank you for your help. I drilled out the rivets and taped the old cable to
the new pulled it through the firewall and routed to the latch, hooked it up.
All works like new without the pain of Dealer Repair Pricing.
