Just bought a 1999 Discovery series II 128,000 miles. Drives great. I already have questions about two things: ABS and traction control lights on--and overheating. Where do I go. I hope I didn't buy a big money pit.

probably going go be one. If the radiator or the headgaskets are leaking then its possible the wheelbearings or worse are bad for the abs light.

I hope you got some money. Parts aren't cheap and labour isn't either. If you want to do it yourself you need to really learn to work on vehicles and learn to follow directions.
