New Disco II owner... wish me luck
Hi all,
I'm a proud new owner of a Discovery II with 120K+ miles. Long story short, after my 1-year anniversary at my current company I'm doing well and on track for an early promotion, so I pulled the trigger on a used 2004 Disco II. It came out when I was in middle school and I've wanted one ever since.
I'm sure it's been the same way for a lot of people. but the past year or so have been tough for me. I was was laid off from what I thought was my dream job. I swallowed my pride and moved across the country to a state I'd never lived in to pursue a career opportunity. I clawed my way back both in my professional and personal life, only for COVID to hit the U.S. in early 2020. I've seen many of my old friends and new friends affected by everything that is going on, and it reminded me that life is too short to take anything for granted.
Anyway, my Disco is not without it's issues, but I'm committed to trying to make this work - nothing in life is ever easy, so might as well enjoy the journey!

I got this DII more as a weekend driver and project to tinker with on the weekends (leaving the more complex stuff for the shop). In a perfect world if I can get everything sorted I'd love to make it a daily driver given my short commute and get a dealer payoff on the lease, but if that doesn't happen I'm comfortable with having both.
It's not very modded at all other than (ARB bumpers and a flat roof rack) and I plan to keep it that way. I love the way it looks as-is and don't have any desire to turn it into a crazy off-road/overland rig at this point.

Discovery 2
I’ve had my 04 discovery for almost 2 years now, got it with 121,000 miles and now has 137,000. For some reason my crazy self thought a discovery 2 would be a great first car, but thank god it has. Somehow It’s never left me stranded and I’ve always driven it like a normal car, but I’ve always took care to maintain it and fix Issues that would come up sometimes. I really believe that if you get a well maintained one and continue to maintain it, it can most certainly become a daily. But it is an older car so I’d still suggest having a back up car just in case lol
