Hello all, I'm in southern NY, and looking a cheap Defender or Series III for my 17 year old son as his first vehicle, and our father-son project. We're willing to drive out of state and any leads would be very appreciated, the budget is ~7k range. Non original or Franken-builds are fine as we're willing to spin wrenches on it. One requirement is it must be running so we at least can try getting it home under its own steam, and LHD steering.

I had a military green '65 when I was his age, and glad to see his appreciation for wanting to learn and fix these British legends.

I have to admit I'm coming from the dark side, my rig is a built Jeep Wrangler that I've had enough of sharing with my son on off-road trails, so further reason for him to get a Land Rover ASAP
