new LR3 owner
Just bought an '05 LR3 with roughly 57k miles on it.
Always liked the rovers and i thought it was a great deal especially in comparison to the other trucks on the market right now.
Little nervous about the reliability and other problems but i have a thing for quirky vehicles(gf and i own two ducatis).
On a side note, the dealer threw in an extended bumper to bumper warranty. Anyone have any experience with these? I know they aren't as bulletproof as the manufacturers warranties but do they generally pay for themselves? I may post this question elsewhere.

Those bumper to bumper warranties are a rip off. They only pay if something fails and most people like to fix things before they fail and cause more problems. Land Rovers are getting a bad rap for reliability. I drive a 97 Discovery that has never left me stranded since I bought it this past summer. I have done a couple 600+ mile trips with no problem and planning to drive to Phoenix, 900 miles, with no reservations. Reliability ratings are tainted by stupid stuff that most people don't care about. Someone reports too much wind noise when driving down the road and the reliability rating takes a dive. Perform the maintenance as specified in the owner manual and you'll have a dependable vehicle for a long, long time. Welcome to the LR family. If the LR3 is anything like the Discovery, it will quickly become an addiction.
