Hello everyone. New forum member. I'm looking to replace my old GMC jimmy 4x4, with something that doesnt smell like an old wet dog. I've always loved the land rover discovery. But keep hearing bad things about them. I've found a lot of them for around 5 grand. I know that every car has its problems. But are all the rumors true? Would I be making a $5,000 dollar mistake???

Rover's require consistent maintenance and definitely have some quirks. Most of the stories you have heard are probably true, but are probably due to the lack of maintenance the truck received from it's owner. I've owned both a DI and now have a DII and have never (knock on wood) had a serious issue that I didn't bring about by my own stupidity
. Keep asking questions and do your research BEFORE you buy so you know what you're getting yourself into. What years are you looking at? What do you plan on doing with it? If you can do a lot of the work yourself you can save a lot of $$$$.
