Hello All,
I've been lurking for a while, absorbing all of your knowledge, while trying to fight the pull of Land Rover ownership. It hasn't worked, so I decided to join and stop fighting the current.

(I did have an LR2 for 4-5 years. Should've kept it really).

I'm currently looking for a used Discovery, and as mentioned I've gleaned a lot of info from you all already. This would mostly be a weekend getaway vehicle rather than a daily driver. I'm pretty handy with tools and a manual so I'm comfortable working on it. After reading Robison's articles I'm really torn on what to do. I WAS thinking 2004... but now I'm looking at 1999 to 2001 models. I HAVE seen some 2004's with complete engine swaps though. My biggest fear is cost... I'm all down for DIY but I don't want to fall into a money pit.

So... feel free to add your two cents, and thanks for having me.

Welcome!
As for any Land Rover, you either grow to love them... or hate them.
