Hi there! I just signed up on the forum. I've seen it a couple of times by doing a Google search on some issues I've had. Had some free time and thought I'd go ahead and sign up on here.

My name is Matt and I'm from NE Oklahoma, Tulsa area. I have a 1999 Black Disco II with 173,+++ miles, almost 174k on it. My wife drives a 2004 Green-ish Disco II SE7 that has about 108k miles. We love both cars and plan on having them for quite some time. My wife originally bought the '99 in 2007 from her sister's boss.

It's basically a LR family... my sister-in-law drives a silver '08 Land Rover, mother-in-law drives a Freelander (can't remember the year), sis-in-law's boss has a 2010 or 2011 Range Rover. Since they have been mostly female vehicles, none of them have ever seen dirt roads. Now, that I'm driving the '99, I want to start making it my own and doing some things to it that will make it last for a LONG time. I don't have much money to put into it all at once, but over a few years, I'd like to make it more of a "off-road" looking ride... more aggressive tires, brush guards, extra lights, etc. I don't want to get too involved in it, as I'm not sure how "off-road" it will become. It's my daily driver right now. It will eventually become our "third" vehicle to have as a back up and for me to tinker with.

I look forward to learning all about these animals on here and get everyone's experience with the Disco's. I'm relatively new to the Land Rover world, but I'm learning as I go!

Welcome. Please take advantage of our tech section, many handy DIY articles there. And the free download of the RAVE, the factory set of service manuals for many years of Discos and even Freelanders. On D2's you'll want to be sure the front drive shaft is updated or replaced, the stock one can snap with almost no warning and poke hole in transmission. Don't trust the heat gauge, get a scanner or Ultra Gauge to see real temperature of the coolant, etc.

Thanks for the tip, Savannah! It's on my mind now.
