I'm not a Land Rover owner, but my brother is, he doesn't have time for a forum (his words), I believe in them and for my trucks they've been very helpful. I'm here on behalf of him.

The vehicle is a 2011 Range Rover (not sport), he is looking to get a factory receiver hitch installed and is looking for the part. So far the least expensive OEM that he could find is $720, to me that is way too high. I got an aftermarket Class V hitch for my truck made by Reese called the Titan, it is one of the strongest hitches available, I cant imagine that a Range Rover needs more than a Class IV, and therefore should be less than what I paid for mine ($500 est). So what gives? Is it just the brand that he is buying?

Sometimes googling the part numbers will help find a cheaper place. The cheapest LR part I could find was 399 GBP, which is pretty steep at about $600 at today's rates, and you'd have to pay shipping from the UK.

The OE part number can be found quite a bit cheaper, at about 250 gbp. Still not "cheap" though.

I don't see an option for an aftermarket like a Reese or Curt. If there was, I have a feeling it wouldn't be rated as high as the OEM. For example, the Curt hitch for my LR3 would only be rated four 6500 lbs, while the factory hitch I bought (used) is rated for 7700lbs.

 

Yeah I did find the Curt ones for the LR3 and LR4. So which place would be the best to buy the Hitch, US or UK?

 

I'd get quotes from the places that seem to be cheaper in the UK, and see if they really are cheaper.
