Son-in-law and I just acquired our first Land Rover (bone stock) from a retired engineer - a 1996 Discovery SD with 195K miles on all but the motor and very little, if any, rust. Spent its last twenty years in Central Texas. It runs and drives and came with a bunch of extra parts (ECUs, wiring harnesses, cables, master cylinder, fuel sending units, headlamps, taillights, manifolds, radio, mud flaps, and other OEM stuff we can’t identify) from his donor SE. The prior owner swapped motors and explained that it has about 2000 miles on it. We drove it almost 100 miles home and the only noticeable issue was a wobble (steering wheel shake) at about 60MPH that you could seem to drive thru it at over 65MPH but it seems to come and go. Also seemed to be triggered by encountering a pavement disruption while driving in the 60’s.

We’ve always had a Jeep (5 or 6) in the family since I bought my wife a 1986 CJ7 Renegade. Always been intrigued with Land Rovers.

it has several issues, mostly electrical, and were excited to begin this journey - pun intended. The prior owner upgraded the security from D1 to D2 with a chip, etc. because he was having issues with the immobilizer - over our head right now.

Our first goal is to resolve the inability to communicate via the ODB2. We also have a Check Engine light, SRS light, and ABS light sometimes.

So our journey begins...
