Hello from California! Just got a 95 Disco 1
And I'm already in the process of replacing the head gasket! Got it for the cost of towing it, fixing it, and taking care of whatever paperwork I need to get this thing registered. It was abandoned a year or so ago after (yeah) the gasket blew, lady never got it done and left it on a friend's yard.
I've gotten everything out already and I've been lurking the forums for help (you guys are hilarious, and helpful!); just waiting to get the cash to buy the replacement kit.
EDIT: imgur album of the various pictures I've been taking. Click me!
1/23/2020 Edit! So I've learned a lot about this truck and some things I still have left to figure out. Here's what's been replaced:
Headgasket(and anything else the kit came with I could swap out)
All fluids (gonna flush them all again when I get the tags up to date)
Fuel filter and pump (easy as hell, thanks land rover)
Distributor cap (considering doing the wires too)
Spark plugs (need to check the gaps, need the tool)
I plugged the top connector of the dash back in, now the tachometer works sorta (wonder why it was unplugged...)
I ran quite a bit of fuel treatment through it and cleaned EVERYTHING.
What I have going on now, well it runs but takes quite a few cranks to start but it always does. I need to purchase a timing tool to dial that in nicely. The only code the ODB ever gave me was 02 after I unplugged and cleaned the 02 sensors. It runs a bit rough and has tons of exhaust leaks I still need to fix. I love this truck though and I'm itching to drive it!
