Default New From WA State with 1999 Disco 2

I'm from western Washington. I picked this truck up a couple of weeks ago. I know very little about Land Rovers and was always a Toyota guy. The seller of this rig told me that it was a 5.5" lift, and I'm sure he thought that's what he had installed. After talking with a few people, it seems that it's more like a 2.5" lift, which I'm still trying to comprehend.

At any rate, here is my first trip off road, which was about 4 days after I picked it up. It did amazingly well.

Welcome. The shop manual set, called the RAVE, is a great resource. Two things to keep in mind - the temp gauge just points at 50% until you toast the engine, and the front propshaft, if factory original, lacks grease fittings in key areas. The shaft eventually splits and pokes hole in transmission. DIY rebuild article on our tech area. And there are aftermarket digital scanners and Ultra Gauge that plug into OBDII port and let you see what is really going on. We have a high miles service list write up posted as well. Enjoy!

Thanks, all.

nahtanoj, I was just in Poulsbo yesterday training a new employee. It was tough driving the Disco past Belfair without stopping.

I'm a member of a local 4x4 club. Next time we head out, I'll send you an invite.
