NEWB from Tampa FL
Hello all, Im excited, and a little nervous, to say I bought my first Land Rover last week here in Florida. I found a coolant leak on day 3 in my garage and currently have it in the shop for a head gasket job and new oil pan gasket, plugs, wires and ball joints! And it begins!
Any comments, questions, help...anything at all. Ive never been on a forum. Thanks!

Well you definitely came to the right forum. This forum is full on knowledgeable members willing to help. I have only been on here since Feb of this year with my first LR and went from nervous to confident(that this will need constant attention).
I have a tendency to get on any forum that pertains to things I own, and have saved literally thousands of dollars.
By the way, Welcome to the Forum

Thank you! Can't wait to this thing out of the shop and hit some Florida trails. Ocala national park has great camping and hilly sandy trails with some small water spots. Gonna be great! I plan on doing about 3000 miles a year on this tank. I'll try and post pics of the head jobs and gaskets. You guys should have seen the oil sludge in the oil pan we dropped!! Bout 2 inches deep!

Read the stickies on the first page, especially the one about service intervals.
Not to assume anything, make sure you replace the head bolts and best gasket to use is the Fel-Pro MLS Permatorque gasket for the Land Rover.

Thanks again. I plan on doing a trans flush while in the air as well. So far I've bought:
-Atlantic British head gasket kit with bolts
-upper/lower ball joints
-Napa Belden wires, Bosch +4 plugs
-LR oil pan gasket and filter
-15w/40 rotella diesel oil
I work for a dealer and my emp labor rate is $25 an hr and I pay 10% over cost on parts so I'm not yet to a grand but it's creeping up quick! I assume I can find on this forum what types of fluids to use?
