Default Newbie from NC

Hello all. My name is Nikki and I'm new to the forum and to the Rover. I bought a 99' Discovery 1 as a 2nd vehicle. I have always wanted one. I live around Asheville NC and would love to know if anyone has a good mechanic or any insite on the D1. I love the forum and appreciate all the work you guys have done.
Great to be here,
Nikki

Hi Nikki,
I live outside of Wallace NC, but do most of the work on my D1 myself. They are really not too bad to work on if you have some patience and some free time. Welcome to the site!

Hi Nikki,
Welcome and yes, I've got a mechanic for you...
Call Tony at
Torque Motors in Swannanoa 828-686-0046.
He only works on Rovers, has all the diagnostic tools, and will save you thousands of dollars over the course of your Rover ownership. He used to work for the LR dealership and you can trust him. Caution: Rovers seem to be highly addictive.

ALCON- Newbie also - 98 Discovery LE - looking for a mechanic, especially after my first visit to a LR dealer for a service. Live in Sanford, NC (in between Fayetteville and Raleigh). Need some assistance tracking the origin of a oil leak - either coming from the head gasket or oil sump assembly gasket (value cover looks good) - looks likethe sump assembly area based on the drip,my problem is I can't see around the head gasket from underneath the vehicle (don't have lift) to see if the oil is rolling into the oil pan area - any recommendations? thanks DC

First Class Automotive, (919) 878 -9100. I've used them a bunch of times for repair work, they do real good work, very quick, and not dealer-priced. (US-1 and I-540)

Discovery Automotive, (919) 859 - 6446 Only used these guys for diagnostics, but theyre always timely and gave very good information. Also they have Range Rover Classics for service loaners (NC State Area)

Wolfpack - Thanks for the info - went Discovery Automotive - looks like oil pan leak and valve cover gasket - waiting out on the head gasket (minor leak at this time). Discovery Automotive - dealt w/Dave Lipman - very user friendly and the price seems reasonable - $450.00 (seal oil pan, new oil, valve cover gasket and labor). Go Heels - DC
