G'day to you all or hi whichever you like. I seem to be joining different forums to try and get some info about my vehicle. This being my first landrover discovery 1 3.5 v8. haven't got a clue about it as I usually drive landcruisers. So into the world we go. Not knowing what to look out for I'm hoping someone can help as I'm about to drive from the east coast of australia to the west coast, 3400 k's. It has electronic ignition, maxi drive axles and rear locking diff. Ceramic coated SS headers. So preparations are under way. I'm wanting some advice about what scanning tool I should buy and what are the code number for. As if a code comes up I'd have no idea what it could be and what's the best workshop manual to buy as a manual is always handy in the glovebox. Any help please.

Welcome here. You should post your questions in the Disco 1 section of this forum. You should get a lot of good help there.

Default Scanning tools

Hello,

Not in Australia, but I discovered on my Disco 2 that the cheaper scanners aren't worth the money. If you can afford it, get a good scanner from one of the Rover specialty companies, like Rimmer Brothers in the UK. I tried one of the cheaper ones (Walmart here in the States), and they're just annoying more than helpful. There's also Atlantic British here in the U.S. Not sure what's on your continent. Or take it to a Land Rover dealer or mechanic and have them run it on a professional analysis unit. Congrats on your new acquisition.
