Default Potential new owner from New Mexico

Hi all.

I joined a while ago, but have been lurking mostly.

I have my eye on a 99' DII with 137,000 miles. Needs some work, but it looks pretty clean on the ad. I'm going to check it out this weekend.

I appreciate the LR community and can't wait to get dirty and become part of the family!

Thanks

Jeff

Welcome welcome!

I'm an NM native, moved to Texas about 7 years ago. Got my first Disco 2 about 4 years ago, same story. 99, needed some work, about 155k on the clock. Currently, still needs work, about 156k on the clock, ha.

I hope it doesn't take me that long!!!

I'm going to go check this thing out on Sunday, they say it needs a water pump. I haven't heard back from him why they think that. I'm going to study up before then to see what else I need to check over. It's reasonably priced and I've always wanted a LR, so this may be the start of something wonderful!

Thanks

Good to hear you're doing your homework, I wish I did. More issues than I could have ever imagined. All 4 O2 sensors were shot, transmission was stuck in limp mode, three amigos, ACE blocks leaking, even found just a month or two back that the floor pan had been cut, guessing one of the prior owners was trying to drop the tranny and couldn't reach a bolt/nut. Finding lots of little things like screws holding in plastic panels because someone pried wrong and broke the holds, man it's just a mess. Tons of missing and broken parts. I definitely picked the project-iest one I could find. I knew nothing about discos at the time other than I wanted one.
