Default second time around....

Hey guys - just got myself a beauty of a 1999 Disco 2 V8 and thought I'd say hello.

I've had a Disco 2 before - 12 years ago....the irony being that that one was actually newer than the one I've just bought. If only I'd kept it....
The plan is to go on a big jaunt around the wilds of Scotland in one year time. I know nothing about cars and maintenance, so this gives me one year to get semi competent and be able to keep it running.
Big difference this time is that there's a wealth of info on youtube these days and some great forums like this one!

Fortunately it looks like its in pretty good nick and been looked after so I'm now stacking up my list of to dos and really looking forward to getting stuck in. And when it all goes horribly wrong I'll be posted stupid questions on here.

So far my list includes:
- change all brake discs and pads
- change a drive shaft boot
- fix oil leak that I think is the sump gasket
- fix the cruise control (hoping its a split vacuum hose)
- fix (replace!) the AC unit which has been removed

First job though is a deep clean as its fully caked in mud, and then rust convert/seal with lanoguard the entire undercarriage

Can't wait
