TX Newbie sans Land Rover
Hi all,
Happy to have just joined your forum after lurking in the shadows a bit last night. Just started toying with the idea of obtaining a Land Rover so I came here to do due diligence on the idea.
As to off-roaders, my background is found in Jeeps, with a 1946 ****** CJ--2A as first car and later a 1979 CJ-7 that I'll get 'round to restoring one of these days. Have an old Jag for a daily driver and am reasonably active over on the JaguarForums.com board under the same userid.
On to Rovers, my initial interest runs to the Disco I, II, or LR3, so any pointers, tips, advice is appreciated. I read some stickies on the disco sections last night, doesn't seem to be a corresponding one on buying in the LR3 section. Wish there was....
But enough about me, happy for the privilege of joining you lot from N. Tx and look forward to learning a lot, here.

see https://landroverforums.com/forum/lr...light=download for link to download LR3 manuals and dealer rollout manuals.
Sample of what is in there in attached files.
Also the full factory manual sets on older units is in the RAVE, download below.
With any LR3 pay for an indy mechanical inspection, ditto for decent D2's, some D1's can be had under $2K, use your best judgment. The LR3 is a complex item with lots of parts.
Scammers will unplug/paint over/tape over check engine lights and other warning lights. Temp gauge on dash not very precise, a code reader scanner will tell you the real coolant reading.
