I own a 1981 series 3 for use in the pirin mountains in bulgaria and recently needed some repairs so went to the landrover service in sofia with a list of things to be done new seals, shocks and filters nothing special, when comming to pick up the landy I found nothing had been done and they refused to release her until I had paid for everything on the list I had given them 1000 pounds!! the police and lawyers were no help so I had to lick my wounds and pay up to get the landy back. So if you are ever in Bulgaria stay clear of Daru car, official landrover service or not they are a bunch of crooks

 

I know a few people over there, and know that is a general problem with regards to bribes etc, and just a general way of doing business.

I assume Daru car was not an offical Land Rover Dealer, as they only have MOTO-PFOHE Ltd listed as an offical dealer. My advice to anyone travelling or working in another country, is to contact Land Rover direct and get details of the nearest offical land rover dealer. Even speaking to the official dealer, even if your at the other side of the country to them, they may be able to help with finding a local garage who will not do a similar sort of thing..

 

we don't have a LR dealer for 300 miles north of us in amarillo, 300 miles east in fort worth, 300 miles west in el paso (i assume) and 350 miles southeast in san antonio. we have taken both of our land rovers to our local ford dealership, same situation with the jag XJR.
