Default What To Buy?

My first post here! I’m very keen on taking a Landy overland across Europe and further a field. I’ve got a small ish budget (6-7k). What’s the best option? I’m looking at a disco 2 but ideally I’d like a Defender. I won’t be buying until next summer as still at uni but is it
worth saving more and buying a defender?

I love landys and my dad has owned a disco 2/3/4 and 5 defender 110 and 90 and has loved them. Most reliable was the disco 2 and 110. Is this what everyone else has experienced?

I’m probably a biased D2 owner, but with your budget I think a D2 will definitely be your best choice.

What about a D3? Have you had any experience with those?

I know my dad had a few nightmares with the 3 and 4 but a lot of people online seem to think they are just as reliable as any others if you look after them.

Suits me needs better too, as they are bigger in the back and probably nicer on the motorways etc.

I’m England. I’ve thought about it but not sure it would be big enough. And apparently they can’t do more than 60mph without falling to bits...

I’ll see what the guy above says about his LR3. Just out of curiosity though, why do you guys across the pond call it an LR3?

Because the Dll was such a failure,...engine wise (garbage gas V8)...that they dropped the Discovery name in the states to distance the new model from the old. Finally, enough time passed and they re-entroduced the Discovery name after the LR4.
