Does anyone know about the BMW 4.4 and bellhousing mating? I assume the ZF in the BMW powered rover is a different casting. If it is not different, I have a 4.4 with harness and electronics and a D2 with a cracked block. Project this winter?

Since I come from 20 years of BMW racing and performance, I really know how to make the BMW powerplant scream.

Keep the dream alive. Why all it should take is the cost of a half dozen D1's and you'll be right there.

Sadly to say BMW horsepower vs real life performance is not good at all. Same power with another manufacturer give mutch better results.. We have seen this too many times.. I wont rather to toutch those engines/car´s. My last build to "customer" is E30 to E34 M5 engine swap. And that car far too lazy vs power/weight ratio..

Back to topic.. What about 400hp/406lbtf N/A Rover V8? + Boost if needed anymore?

I don't have a whole lot of BMW experience but my brothers modded 335i has plenty of BMW horsepower and real life performance

I think 335i is turbo..

My 31-year old 1650Kg SD1 will beat Easily my friend E30M5 witch i build.. BMW has got mutch better power/weight ratio 315hp/1250Kg vs 394hp/1650Kg. SD1 has got 3.08:1 rear diff and 1st gear is 2.95 also. Not so performance gear´s.. I think BMW has got 3.55:1 rear diff and 1st gear is 3.9-4.?
But i like those SD1 gear´s alot. 100% better ratio than any BMW.. in 2nd gear it will go approx 120km/h.
And my another friend has got 200x year E46 cabriolet M3. That is mutch slower than this E30M5..
E39 M5 is slower than E30M5..

The 335i is a twin turbo. With a tune, downpipes, diverter valves, and an intake it makes approx 375 whp. With a new front mount intercooler and a more aggressive tune with a 93 octane/E85 50/50% mix people have seen about 450whp and 500 ft lbs of torque. No clue what the gearing is with the 6 speed but that thing flies!

Seems to me that LS swap would be the best, quickest, and possibly the cheapest foundation for getting up to 600. But damn, I can't imagine a 600hp Disco!
