Default $5089 Total bill at the LR Dealer - Not my money :)

I have a 2003 Discovery that I perform all my own maintenance on. I help pickup and drop off my girlfriends parents DII when they get their Rover service done at the dealer. Their 03 was approaching 85,000. Here is what they got done at the dealer, they are loaded $$$ and dont really care, but thats a harsh repair bill. Wow, what a way to offend the customer that bought the Rover NEW from you Tom Wood Land Rover.

Installed new:
$1512 4 -Shocks
$129.95 4- wheel alignment
$1094 New shuttle valve installed + brake fluid
$1018 Valve cover gaskets
$240 1 front Oxygen sensor
$205.55 Fuel System treatment & oil change
$33.88 Fuel door plastic clip replaced
$203 Detailed Ar-moralled the hell out of the inside.
$420 Tax and other Mlse shop fees

$5089 Total bill Ouch. Wow I'm glad its not my money

(No new plugs and wires at that mileage?, still with original Bosch Crapola wires) And they even pulled the top plenum to do the valve covers. How dumb! Dealer knows best right? Said they are due at 105,000. I could detect a stumble in the idle on the drive home. I guess thats good business when you know you have a sucker...I mean blind customer

Some one should start a thread of "how much did you pay the dealer today?"

Sometimes, people just like spending money. My brother in law just dropped about $3k at two dealers for brakes for his jeep wrangler and his wife X5. I am a mechanic and he juat dropped 3k at a dealer. Muat be nice to have that kind of money!

Wow! I'd hate to see the bill from the LR dealership for servicing a 2012 Range Rover or LR4!

A oil change for a LR4, about $250.
You only do it once a year or 15,000 miles though.

If this story isn't motivation for someone to start doing their own maintenance, I don't know what is.

Thanks for sharing Dave, that's nuts!

You're just angry cause your girlfriends parents didn't pay you to help drop it off, pick it up, and scrutinize the repairs and bill for them.
I'm thinking thats worth at least $600.00 ...lol
