Default 2000 Jaguar XJ8: how are they?

Howdy guys,

Thinking of picking up another British classic... If you have XJ8 or XK8, how are they? Specifically looking to find out whether the engines are strong and whether it is easy to find parts. I am okay with doing some work, but would rather not have another vehicle that requires frequent head gasket changes or possible engine swaps.

Thank you,

I loved my old Jag xj6. It was a fantastic car.

Only thing I would look into is to see when there were timing chain issues with the AJ8 motor that was in those. Most of those by now would have been repaired though I am betting.

My wife had a RHD 2002 Jag S-type and loved that car. That is until the auto tranny started slipping then crapped out in 2007 and cost us £4000/$7500 for a replacement.
