I dont mind it, but a forum costs money, web hosting fees, domains etc...personally i dont want to pay for it, so i dont mind seeing an ad here and there

Ok, thanks for letting me use your photo as an example. I totally understand needing to generate revenue for a free site. I'm also a fan of donating directly to sites I use ("supporting member" title with donation, for example).

What I don't understand is ads that interfere with the site. That's the reason I'm not over on LRO. Ads should not be intrusive. To the extent that they now automatically pop up on photos, it's intrusive. Intrusive to the point that I may shelve the Cadillac CTS-V project I've been planning because of all these stupid Caddy ads.

I don't think I'm being petty. I'm just trying to see what everyone else thinks about this new advertising scheme. The ads may bring revenue, but no one sees them if no one comes to the forum because of the annoying user experience. With all the recent moderator drama, LRF has slipped from #1 to not even in the top 5 forums I frequently check. This certainly does not help.

Just my worthless $0.02.

Interesting that Jeep ads help pay for our fun

Ads are annoying, but slapping them on someone else's property without their permission...well..that sort of language isn't allowed here.

EXACTLY!

I just installed Adblock Plus... it is awesome... LRF is almost readable again.

These should not be appearing for logged in users, let me know if they are. They are also having some problems with the new product and we are working to sort it out... you guys were unfortunately in the first test group and may see some hiccups.
