Default After action cleaning

Hey all,

So maybe i havent gone far enough back on the threads, but i cannot for the life of me find anything on the forum about what to clean after muddy off road driving. I am concerned that dirt, grime and grit re going to get into spots that will cause long term damage.

Can someone direct me to a thread that covers the issue, and if not, can i get some tips on what to look for and where?

Just take it to the carwash, start with the DIY carwash to get most of the mud off, then go to the full service carwash to get the underside washed too.

Cld power wash everything that has mud on it, you won't hurt a thing on a D2 as long as you don't have the original factory grey plug wires. If you do, you might get a slight mis-fire from those old wires getting wet and grounding to the block.
I power wash my truck at least once a month and have for 10 years with no problems.

Agreed, I just open my hood and power wash the heck out of my motor obviously you wont want to spray water directly into the fuse panel or what not but I don't bag or cover anything. After the wash I climb back in and start it up with no problems. Been doing this for years now with no trouble at all. Only people giving me crazy looks wondering why I am doing that. Every once in a while I will take a bottle of cleaner and a small brush and detail it up real good this happens more during the winter months when the salt is being used on the roads.

leave it running when you wash the engine. For any vehicle. Trust me car wash guys don't do it and it screws the vehicles up. Especially before a delivery.

I open my hood, set the sprinkler on the intake plenum and turn on the hose, 4 hours later I come back and my engine is clean as a whistle.

Seriously, who the hell cares how clean your engine is or is not?
Clean the area you are going to be working on and forget about it, its a stupid engine.

As for the OP's LR3, as long as all of the mud is off of the metal you are good.

What spike said about the sprinkler. But put it under. Park in your lawn and let the sprinkler run for 30 minutes or so.
