Default America and where we are going??????

Well here we go again, a GE crx56-3 had a hydraulic pump fail on a 737 this week. It appears when the pump failed it fraged the engine. Jamie had a lengthy discussion with me this mourning regarding aviation maintenance and the lack of the federal government to enforce it. The NTSB was castrated by the federal government during the 80's by then president Reagan. Now we have commercial aircraft leaving the ground with 1/3 potential fuel squeezing every pound to the point of pillows. This is an extremely dangerous environment. The people on that plane as Jamie put it won the triple trifacta. 1) the genius of the design of the engine didnt grenade, that would have taken the wing off and ignited 12 tons of JP5. GE I take my hat off to you. 2nd) the plane only rolled 100 yards down off the chevrons when the engine failed think about the ramificatios if that happened 3000 feet in the air. Think about after rotation if this happened??? 3rd) the captain and crew aboard evacuated the passengers without a mass stumbling panic with no deaths. The fortunate thing here is that " when the engine failed it muscled the rudder to the point that the pilot couldn't keep it on the runway. Thank god for grass" the fusilage didn't fail, but it stayed intact enough to allow a reasonable escape. If it would have been on the runway it would be a different story. This is getting sick, failures, crashes and overwelmed air-towers, its time to reregulate the air, Bush does it all the time like tapping phone calls as if he can read the constitution, but he did close airports when it became a national safety issue. If it costs you 200 dollars to drive to Florida why not pay 125 to fly. You want it, pay for it, I dont want WallMart aviation anymore. If that plane got up and crushed a townhouse developement, more then a 1000 people would be dead people. I have not a vested interest in this financialy but I am scared to death of the other ramiifications. If two birds can take down the trade centers think of the possibilities in your nieghberhood. The general aviation in this country is approaching Peru's status. that really pisses me off. We are a developed nation, theres no excuse. just my thoughts scott

Default RE: America and where we are going??????

After serving in the Air Force I will not fly in a commercial plane I know what it takes to keep one in the air. The news crews are always showing people (civilian) getting busted for doing crappy maintenance on these planes. Not all but a growing number of American workers are so lazy you con not pay them 150 bucks an hour to sleep check mattress's because it would mean "they be workin for da man". However these same people will stay up for 48 hours trying to figure out how to steal the copper out of your house. Another problem with the workforce today is technology gone haywire, most job site in my area BAN the use of cell phone by all employees - unless you are on your own break or lunch time - a recent study showed a three story commercial building was delayed from completion by six months because - what the study showed - out of a ten hour workday the people there only averaged two to three hours of "work" the rest of the time they were talking or text-ing. America is going down the tubes (in this case its as simple as phones, they are many other reasons) because they have become lazy - want to be paid for doing nothing (I don't have a problem with someone making big bucks for "working") look at the quality (HA) of American cars.
