Default Anyone see the Man from UNCLE movie ?

I thought it was a fun romp through 60's cold war era espionage. Has some European race track stuff you might like Offroad, and there's a cool Land Rover Defender car chase near the end.

It's not a perfect film and certainly not an Academy Award contender.... but I enjoyed the 2 hours of escapism it provided. That, and Man from U.N.C.L.E. was one of the first tv shows I can remember watching.

You are showing your age,LOL. I was in 5th grade and I had the "Man from U.N.C.L.E." briefcase which was the rage(for us anyway). I will have to watch it just for grins.

Well I'm not quite 50 yet so this is just a little before my time; and yes, I just checked, the new one is out right now actually so you should go see it :-)

I have you all beat, I think, I had a "Secret Sam" briefcase that shot plastic bullets out one side and had a camera in the other.... It was Man from U.N.C.L.E. era stuff....

I say 'had' because it is long gone, sold new for $6.88 from the Sears catalog but now sells for a couple hundred on EBay. I should have hung on to it.

Ha ha !! I'll be 57 in a few months. This was my very first school lunchbox... must have been around 2nd grade. All metal with a thermos too. A lot of PB and J's were packed in that thing. Couple years later I got a new Wild Wild West lunchbox

Movie tease alert:

(spoiler sort of)

So the bad guy is trying to get away with the girl and the bomb through a large mountainous and forested dirt road area driving a Land Rover Defender.......

Napoleon Solo comes running out to save the girl but just a bit too late, they are already gone with only a dust cloud to show it. So he looks around for a pursuit vehicle. What he finds is this super big tire, framework body, roll cage, independent suspension, rock climbing, monster buggy thing .... and the chase ensues. Not always on the roads I might ad.

illya kuryakin is following on a motorcycle.

At one point the chase comes to a river crossing.... and what happens I will leave for those off roading, Land Rover driving enthusiasts who see it
