Crash ??!!
Got up this morning and noticed something was not quite right with my grille guard... The drivers side headlight cover wires were bent upwards, and the powder coated frame was scuffed through with white paint on it, right down to the steel underneath. Looks like someone had a mishap...I know it wasn't like that when I parked it.
Then I looked over my Astro van parked right in front of it, and noticed some scrapes and dents starting at about 1/2 way back on the sliding door, and continuing all the way to the rear bumper.. the dents and scratches matched up with the grille guard and bumper on the Disco....
My son's girlfriend (who I am convinced is insane) used my Astro the day before, she asked at noon to use it and when I went to bed at midnight still was not back yet. No ides where she went, but the van is out of gas.. Seems she is in need of parking lessons or a new set of glasses.. She obviously has trouble parallel parking, and said she heard a loud noise but just kept going and parked the van..Minimal damage to the Disco, $1600 damage to the van!! Since both vehicles are on my insurance, (and luckily she is named as a driver) I would be OK turning it in, but I don't see how I would come out ahead on that one. About noon today as I was cutting grass, she was sitting on the stairs with the Grandson, and wearing the lowest cut shirt she owns, proceeded to tell me how sorry she was about hitting the Land Rover and it did make a lot of noise, but thought it wasn't hurting anything so she kept driving (parking) She didn't think she was that close, wasn't wearing her glasses, etc..
I ended up getting a quote on the van as it involved dented bodywork, and fixed the Disco myself. I am glad it has that grille protector on there or it probably would be missing the whole front end!
4 hours of buffing on the van and the dents are still there, but the scratches are almost undetectable, enough that I can live with I guess.
Thinking about getting some old tires to hang around the sides of the Disco and the Astro like a tug boat for next time she parks...
