More common is "the grinch that stole Christmas money for repairs"

 

WOT, are ya casting aspersions over the existence of 'ole rudolf and father christmas think of all those people and kids with shattered dreams waiting up all night watching the chimney or fireplace

 

If those kids are reading this forum, they probably already have shattered dreams.

 

well, surely you can just tell them that santa's sleigh uses lucas electronics so thats why he wont be able to make it this year

 

Nothing wrong with lucas cr@p that a trip on the breakdown truck can't fix .................. provided you've got the time and cash

Story! when I was a few years younger lucas made everything electrical from headlight units to voltage regulators to starter motors to dynamos. In fact they made everything electrical for UK cars and motorbikes then. So much so Joseph Lucas was affectionately known as Josiah Lucas when you broke down and needed an electrical replacement part. Lucas made a small fortune from the automotive industry back then. Look at any old Series LR or a BSA motorbike and you'll see what I mean.
