Great healthcare through wife's work... and if we didnt use her's... my employer has excellent coverage as well if we wanted to use it. To go private or .gov care it would cost us a fortune for less care... our income would cause us to pay extra to subsidize others... which is total BS. We've both had great employer healthcare for 20 plus years... medicaid and medicare already exist... socialized healthcare would screw everyone that works and reward those that are not pulling their weight.

Wow lots of different comments I gather if you have a decent job your ok

same as here in Canada if you don’t have a job with benefits to cover medications and dental your screwed
surgeries and emergency care is covered to everyone

but we do pay high taxes
I give away 40 % of my pay.
The remaining 60 % gets taxed heavy to when you pay $1 a litre for 87 gas
$50 for a 24 beer $3500 property tax
car insurance is roughy $250 a month electrical home bill is $100-200 a month
list go on and on

Do you get deduction on your taxes?
Wife and I are in 22% income tax bracket... but we get 2k back per child under 17 and get taxes back that we paid on the income we used on child care up to a certain extent... donations are deductible ( you get back the amount you laid income tax on... not the whole thing... say I donate $100 I would get back 22% of that) but standard exemltions are ok.
some states have an additional income tax.. like california... here in texas we do nkt have state income tax... property taxes are slightly higher but still dollar for dollar well under state income taxes. Cheap fuel... employer covered health benifits. 8.25% purchase tax in Houston... but 3% on vehicles i believe.
i don't have any money... I'm just a temporary steward of some numbers that go up and down... and my duty isnto do my best with them... at least it feels better to think of it that way lol.

That's because you live in a big city like Toronto. Here in NJ I give away 27% of my pay in taxes, lose $400 a month in health insurance, pay almost $8000 a year in property taxes on a small house on a small lot, and my insurance on my Landy and Abarth is almost $300 a month with a squeaky clean record.

wow 8000 in property tax
I don’t live in Toronto but most of our taxes are province and federally wide
things are getting more expensive everywhere and seems like we get less

Obamacare raised rates raised copays, raised deductibles and eliminated competition all over the country, all so those on welfare would be covered.

i know more than one family that nearly went bankrupt or did go bankrupt after being forced onto obamacare because of preexisting conditions. Their insurance dumped them into Obamacare because of having to treat preexisting conditions.

many areas of the country have literally one option for healthcare.

capitalism, competition and tort reform will be the better road to more affordable healthcare

Sounds like a mess due to where you work and where you live.
It should be a federal mandate and every state should have the same rules
