Yea I agree with you. But the rest of the VW isn't anywhere near what I'd need.

I looked at the 73 F250 project. 500 bucks. 4spd. 360 FE, 4x4. Exactly what I wanted. After going all the way across town to check it out the owner casually mentioned he had no title for it. But offered me a bill of sale....ugh. So no go. Since my Rover crapped the bed the search and the idea have taken a back burner.

 

I hope once the project gets back on track you build one of these!

I remember the first time I saw one of these on a RRC was about 15 years ago in Germany. It stood taller like the one on that Defender and it had a sleeping platform. Very cool.
