I'll be deleting all my photos and images
LandroverForums not too long ago made changes so that any image posted that's hosted on another site is no longer just a link but is uploaded to the site and now resides on the site.
This site's Terms of Service, Site Terms, gives them commercial rights to anything uploaded to the site.
Since material linked to on this site doesn't reside on this site they would not have commercial rights to the material, but by changing how images are displayed (actually uploaded to the site even if you just use a link to another site) they now have those rights over our images.
I'm going to be going through all my postings and deleting any photos/images I've posted.

Tom, I've always found your images very helpful. Most of us are here for academic discussion, and few of us would be in a position to have financial benefit from the images. I must admit that I have used one of your images of the Ram pickup crumple zone to better illustrate the the virtue of the Land Rover. I would hope you would wait for a few days and reconsider. I know that the images I have posted of mechanical details of my busted Rover really don't have much value to anyone.
I don't mind individuals using my images for personal use. And I honestly don't think I have many, if any, that would be of value monetarily.
What I object to is a site owners, by virtue of the fact I've posted a photo to help people, saying that they can then take that photo and make money off of it. But I was able to live with that since I wasn't using attachments so the photos didn't actually reside on this site so posting them didn't give them those rights. However, they've changed the site functionality to pull the photos and add them as attachments so they now have rights to them.
I can't see any way to prevent the site from doing that. If I can find a setting to change so they remain just links, I'll put links back in.
binvanna, I get your point, but you didn't actually read the terms of service. And that's not how intellectual property works anyway. You don't own the rights to those images so you can't give them to the forum by posting them. Whereas by posting a photo you own you do give the rights to them to the forum owners.

I tend to think of this as a social media thing, we post pix of fun and not so fun. But I can understand both sides of the issue, and how someone may take a stand on principal. Part of what makes this a great country.
Tom,
I also would hate to see you delete so many of your benefical thread, ideas and pictures.
I will be talking to the office Monday and would like to get their take on this and if need be have them speak to you, so hold off if you would.

Yes, I'll hold off until I hear from you.
Hey Tom,
That particular product was one we had tested in order to preserve "How To" articles and images for future users and there was some concern as you had mentioned with the fact that it removes the original link to the site it came from and simply uploads it to our site. I disabled the product as our tech team works on a better solution for this problem.
Please PM me if you have any more concerns.
all the best,
Nolan

Tom, I hope Nolan's message and possible further messages will but you at rest over your concerns.
The other issues from last week are being dealt with so we can all get back to Rover stuff.
If you have any questions contact me.
