I am happy you are pleased with the outcome TRIAR11 and you've achieved your desired intentions. Thankfully the GBP rate is well down against the USD and you got what you wanted at a reasonable exchange rate.

I placed my first order with LRDirect.com recently and am very pleased. They always have the part I'm looking for and the price is always unbeatable. They're very similar to john craddock.

Pros
- each part lists all manufacturers: Britpart, genuine, OEM, allmakes, etc so you can choose which one you want. None of that obscure "proline" thing that Roversnorth does
- shipping is very fast. Ordered monday, received friday. Relatively cheap, too
- price is unbeatable

Cons
- have to search by part number. Not a big deal. Use new.lrcat.com to find the part # you need. Can't browse categories or anything

LRDirect are a good outfit also and offer, as you righly say, alternatives to LR. I receive regular e-mails and trade day offers from them. Simmonites are good but pricey and JGS4x4 are also good but I cannot say what their shipping prices are like.

If you can, lay your hands on a copy of Land Rover Monthly for good technical articles, offers and many reliable LR spares advertisers which are many. LRM don't entertain any scammers advertising in their mag as they have a well maintained reputation to uphold.

Land Rover Monthly looks like a great find. How relevant is it for american D2 owners? Most of the covers are of Defenders and for when they do cover the Discovery - is it mostly the td5?

You and your Genuine parts fetish crack me up. Its brakes. On a Land Rover Discovery. This isn't some Ferrari. Buying brakes for your truck is like buying brakes for a Chevy; anything will work.

Genuine parts or aftermarket does it even matter anymore.....the same "highly skilled" 10 year old will be making them either way.

Hi

Problem. Most LR parts are made in Europe these days, Bulgaria being one source. Buying LR parts is OK but are top dollar whereas many aftermarket parts are far more competitive. Admittedly genuine LR parts are subjected to a more rigorous QA inspection than many aftermarket parts and the LR parts come in a pretty poly bag with an LR logo. However, there are many fake copies circulating so no-one actually knows what's kosher these days.

IMO stick to well known aftermarket parts and LR for certain critical parts. Even bearings, break pads, rotors etc can be replicated by measuring or buying the same parts from other sources so worth looking around and saving possibly 100% to 500% on LR parts. D2's are old now and much of their old stock is at give away offer prices from LR main dealers, check out on Ebay.

Hi TRIARII, the LR rotors are a really good price particularly for kosher LR parts but the pads are LR mega expensive items. You may have been better just buying solely the rotors.
