I wander why land roverīs TD5 engines last so short time, to my knowledge the best engine ever built by LR, why the good machines donīt last? somebody tells me, please,( a senior LR machanic)

As for my TD5 engine with 11 years and 120K miles with regular filter and oil changes and has never even faltered once, I think that's pretty remarkable for any engine. However, maybe that's not what you mean. It's not unusual to find TD5's with mileages well in excess of 220K miles and more without rebuilds.
I think they could have been a better engine as they are noisy and a bit 'lumpy' being a 5 cylinder engine. They are also underpowered at 2.5 litres and produce a lot of CO2. The later Mk3 2.7L engine was developed by Jaguar and also the 3.0L engine in the Mk4 which is far better still. It also depends who owned LR at the time as they were effectively the same company as Jaguar and hence the V6 engines. Whereas the TD4/TD5 was developed by BMW, as far as I know, but not used until they sold LR.

Sorry, what I ment to say is why the LR factory use de td5 engine for so little time, I was
serving at the falklands from 2003 to 2008 and I think they ended by 2007 then It came the puma which is ford mazda built.
