Default Land Rover Discovery Information Please?

I am looking at purchasing a Land Rover Discovery and had a few questions. Does the Discovery require premium fuel, or can it run off of regular? Also I have noticed in Consumer Reports that the Discovery did not get the best reliability ratings, so I wondered what current owners thought. Any imput you can give me would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Launch ICarScan

Land Rover ownership is like a cult. Reliability is directly related to proactive maintenance. I too, read reviews and almost ran from LR ownership, but have found it to be a Love/Hate relationship. I stay on top of fluids, engine temps, etc. I am very happy with the Disco. Yes it requires premium ful, though some people run the mid grade with no problems.

If you keep an eye on things, and listen for the strange noises, and aren't afraid to dive in on the easy fixes, they are a blast!! I am amazed at how they do off-road! I get a kick out of researching the problems and fixing them my self. sometimes it can be a challenge but very satisfying when you get it working. Plenty of people in here willing to steer you in the right direction when you have problems. If I knew what I know now back when I bought my Disco 1... I'd still buy it again!
