Nationwide Truck Warranty for 2003 D2?
Has anyone purchased a warranty through Nationwide Warranties? They quoted me a price of $2800 for a two year warranty that seems to cover a ton of stuff. My D2 is a 2003 with 45k miles on it. This is with a 100 dollar deductible. I think the full name of the company is Nationwide Auto and Truck Warranties.
And in a few years even buy a whole one for that price. But Spike is right, a dealer might charge $4500 for head gaskets, and indy shop $1700 - $2500, and the gasket set is $90 - $120.
I think extended warranties are OK if they are negotiated in heavily discounted as a deal sweetener. But you'ld just be adding to the sales weasel's commission check at $2800.

An interesting point. For some it becomes a new hobby, the Rover is basic, close to systems used when you tinkered with vehicles in high school. For others, it is the pride of doing things yourself. For those among us that don't need a forklift to carry their checkbook; it can be fiscal reality. Can be dictated by other life events, like children, college, job changes, etc.
The time to repair, the place to work on it, the purchase of tools, all these are a factor. But so is a dealership labor rate of $150 - $190 an hour in some shops.
So we may not have the time, but we make the time, for a variety of reasons. I have to use the formula of ( flat rate manual hours X 2 X days ). But I'm a slow learner, and an accomplished village idiot.
An important note - if your discuss the dollars to be saved by doing it yourself, SWMBO will make sure those dollars go elsewhere promptly.

I love the vehicle for my wife and kid out here in Colorado. I particularly like the idea of having an extended warranty and not having to worry about any number of things that can go wrong with "Chunk". I ended up getting a 4 year warranty through CNA and it covers a ton of stuff. If anyone is interested I suggest going that route as the price was comparable but there's no 30 day/1000 mile waiting period. It's active immediately and covers, from what my mechanic could tell, close to everything that could potentially incur a huge bill.
