But not drive it? With gas going up again the prices of rovers will drop but those that need alot of repair will go even cheaper. The trick is to sell the vehicle after the price of gas goes down. Sure parts selling might work but the best bet at this time is buy it when people are desparate and sell them when they are not. You can buy a few rovers for cheap, repair them over six months and get them to great shape and then sell them when the gas goes down. Just like a stock.

No usually the cost to fix them up excedes the value of them. The resale on rovers is not as high as you would expect, that is partly because of the cost of repair and maintainence.

And depending on the person, his wallet and his "desperation" to get his hands on a landy, this could be the very best time to sell your rover. Gas prices alone do not discourage me from pursuing a landy, rather the high unemployment rate and low wages. If I had $11,000 cash in hand I would not hesitate to buy a 2003/04 discovery right now! But in this economy money and jobs are scarce and I dont have $11,000 cash in hand. My only hope is to save my pennies, and hope that I can find someone who does financing. But in regards to your question above you should be able to convince any seller of a landy to lower the asking price due to gas price increases and repair expenses. Best luck to you.

You could buy a large vehicle like the LR in a large city (where people generally like smaller cars), then take the car and sell it in places where people like big cars, like Florida. You could turn it around quicker and have the vehicle depreciate less between the time of purchase and the time of sale.

Just got a smokin' deal on a 2004 Westminster with 104K highway miles. Treated VERY WELL by a cute little old lady who wanted something more economical.
