Is there a database, website, or otherwise where anyone can find Rover shops that are local to them?

If not, then maybe this is a project that I can start (if anyone is interested.) I have the resources to put something together rather quickly and make it easy to update/add listings by anyone.

(I just picked up RoverShops.com - along with their corresponding .org and .net) I can throw something together this upcoming week and start testing CMS (content management systems, etc.)

Let me know if this already exists, but I think a central place where people can find (and review) local Rover shops would be a tremendous help.

But what I'm looking to do is a site with searchable listings and reviews of Rover repair shops with a social aspect.

 

So, I put something together today here:
Find Independent Land Rover Repair Shops and Specialists – Listings and reviews of independent Land Rover shops.

I hope you would register and add listings (the only downside is that you can't review your own listings. So, if you'd like to review your fav shop, send me an email with the shop details - name, address, numbers, website - and I'll add them tomorrow. Then, you can review/rate.)

Once I get a few listings going, I'll move the site to the main URL. I'd like this to be like the Yelp of independent rover shops.

I'll check in tomorrow.

That's a great list, Ed! Thanks for the link. I'll start adding those today.

 

Anthony, Army Rover started to put a list together on the LRO, got some help and some shops but as usual, when someone wants something they will ask but not till they need it and it makes it hard to get help from all the members on shop names.

 

That's very true in many forums. Thanks, Mike! I'll dig that up after I go through data entry of Ed's list.

The good thing about doing it this way is that it's pretty much a self-maintained resource; The community adds and reviews listings (moderated of course) with the ability for the owner of the shop to take over the listing and add more info, reply to reviews/comments, and upload pics and documents, etc. much like on Yelp. That way, no single person will be burdened with updating and growing it.

The way it's going, I should have everything moved to the main URL by tomorrow or Friday. Then I'll add social network buttons and a little "polish" and it should be good to go.

Just to be clear, I don't intend to make any money from this (even though I've paid for licensing software, images, hosting, and domains,) it's just my way of giving back the best way I know how (via online technology - my former "work") to a community that has helped me tremendously with my Rover plus saved me thousands of $!
