Shop tools

I had a 3/4 Craftsman ratchet break at work. It has been in use for a long time. The local Sears here in town mostly sells appliances and has a limited assortment of tools. I figured he could order a replacement for it. He said "hang on" went in back and replaced the ratchet assembly (which was the problem) and said that when Sears decided to stop repairing ratchets, he bought a bunch of the parts kits and still had a few sizes. the 3/4 doesn't break too often ... NO CHARGE!!

I have a policy, what you use a lot buy the best you can afford and what you use occasionally buy cheap and throw away when it breaks. Snap, Elora, Britool or Mannesmann for hand tools are great I even bought a 150 litre twin compressor cheap and it's still running OK after 10 years or so. I'm old fashioned and like my air tools as the batteries on cordless always die too soon and they are expensive, also the models get superceded. I still use an SDS breaker drill after 12 years and it only cost €13 in a supermarket so I bought two at the time.
