With practically every vehicle having a phone option it only makes sense to give the phone module updates for free. Why, because customers will appreciate having the latest and greatest and no matter how old the vehicle is the phone module will still work. Plus dealerships won't have to charge an hour for updating it and still the customers phone not work because the software in the phone. Until the phone guys and us car guys meet in the middle then someone mostly the car guys will always be behind. Trust no dealership wants to update the phone module if they know that within weeks or almost immediately the phone no longer works or the functions are curtailed by an updated phone.
