No S**T? What part?

I'd think you would get a bunch of snow in Seattle but I've never been there.

I live in north Georgia and we received 8ins of snow last year, it was awesome going up and down hills in my neighbor hood passing up rednecks with there 13in body lifts... Infact I had to go up into the Mtns and rescue my brother who ran out of propane... twas a very good time..

I grew up in Northern California, but I have lived in the Seattle area long enough to observe that the lowlands (Seattle proper and the surrounding suburbs and islands) typically get trace to a few inches of snow most winters. There are some winters that pass with zero snow in most lowland areas, and then there are winters (like this one) that result in a dump of snow and ice that lasts about 4-6 days, and then it's gone. Most people who live in the Midwest or anywhere that receives regular snow in the winter laugh at Seattle's tendency to shut down when ANY snow arrives. It's true that many people around here do NOT know how to safely navigate in snowy/icy conditions, but they also have to deal with a hilly landscape (Seattle is similar to San Francisco in that respect) that is NOT forgiving in this sort of weather. And, the ratio of snow-removal equipment to population is low here because it is unnecessary most of the time.

 

I'd like to thank Seattle for not taking all the snow. It has arrived here and we are expecting up to 20" of snow! Good times ahead!

Yeah, I was thinking we'd get dumped on in the winters, but I think the annual average is around 10" and in the 5 years I've been out here it's been much less than that. We have a weird convergence zone thing here where the warmer air bumps off the mountains and keeps Seattle in the high 30's-50's for most of the winter...really sucks.
