What are you guys listening to today?
I needed to hear that, thanks Offroad. I work with a guy who is into protein powders (shakes) and he eats the same thing everyday (chicken chunks and broccoli which is transported to work in a clear ziploc bag). As much as it is working for him (2 years now - first taking him down to very thin and now bulking him up) I find it hard to believe that he isn't creating an eating disorder by the lack of variety in addition to the protein shakes and caffeine drinks he downs everyday. He is also trying to convert me and anyone else in the office to his way of thinking.
You need variety and balance in a diet. Although chicken and brocoli are good but not every day. I believe in a variety of lean meats and good fresh vegetables and salads, not prepacked salads though often carry e coli. Many do create an obsession and eating disorder from repetitive eating. Avoid LDL fats in food and excesses in anything. Chocolate (dark type) is good in moderation as is all foods, biscuits are high in LDL's in most cases even Mc Dos
. I'm lucky, I never or very rarely eat cakes or biscuits - too mean
When I spoke with my doctor a few years back about proper diet and nutrition he too said 'stick with a balanced diet but don't go crazy on the protein'. I know that my downfall is night-time, I have no problem when at work but when I get home I want to snack, and my husband doesn't help matters with his crisp addiction
(Although on record he has stated it is unbelievable that the US has an entire grocery aisle dedicated to crisps but they all taste like crap) He seems to have resigned himself to the old stand by of 'salt and vinegar' and 'Chilli Heatwave Doritos' (although I think they're called something different here (Spicy Sweet Chili..)
The doc is right, spot on. Eat a little and often and avoid regular 'blow out' gastronomic meals as the digestive system cannot cope usually. Snacking between meals is bad news particularly crisps and chips, read the pack and it'll frighten the life out of you - LDL loaded saturated fats - heart and artery grippers
Believe it or not I know where Battersea is. When I first met my husband I thought I'd surprise him by taking the train from Kensington to East Croydon station and walk to a pub that his brother owned at the time. Not the safest thing to do I found out
, lots of cat calls and 'hey baby's' from guys hanging out on the streets and I got stuck in Clapham Junction. Apparently train routes terminate (?) and there I was sitting on the train waiting for it to take off again after letting people off at the stop. All of a sudden a man in a pagri showed up, arms flailing as he yelled 'you MUST get off of the train, the train has stopped, OFF the train, the train has stopped - you MUST get off of the train.'
Well ok.. (with a shrug of resignation) I'll move along....

) and always look like you know the place and where you are going and no displays of affluence, cameras, jewellery, mobile phones etc as the 'dips' (pickpockets) and muggers are looking for the unsuspecting. Again, streetwise is king on the streets and if you see the same person more than twice when walking around they are usually up to no good - beware. Good luck and stay safe.
PS dieting/crash dieting actually increases body fat as the body retains more than sufficient fats to continue functioning. Most weight loss supplements contain more calories than weight gain supplements also per kilo. Avoid supplements is the best answer.

Battersea and Clapham, Clapham Junction is a main rail intersection although you wouldn't believe it to look at, these areas have always been a 'bit near the armpit' over the past few decades. Not a place to wander around unless you know it well and 'fit in' around there. Streetwise is the name of the game in those areas particularly around S & SE London and N & NE London. Tottenham is another case in point, not a nice place to live or frequent. In around London is OK but more dangerous for woman and tourists, they stand out from the regulars and are a target for the lurkers and undesirables. It's the same in most cities, never look like a tourist wandering around looking and admiring the sights as for sure you become a 'muggers' bait and in some places can wind up stabbed for your mobile phone. My policy in towns and cities is to never look too affluent (which isn't difficult for me

Looks like I'm doing something right
I eat a lot of veggies, limit my carbs and eat a modest amount of protein. Ice cream is my downfall.
Think I'll treat myself once a week and call it good. Ho hum... must be doing something right, however, because I was carded last night buying a beer for my hubby. 'Huh? wha?.. I'll have to run out to the car'
Ok, back to thread: Here's a Chaka for you:
Like the Chaka vid KD.
On the subject of body mechanics it's worth reading about the electrical activities, brown fats and bio clocks. I've posted this link for your 'light' reading as this also comes into play and is not dependent solely on diet and exercise.

Space Cadet is one of my favorite songs of all time. I used to play it at campfires, chicks dig acoustic tunes!
Echoes is my favorite Pink Floyd song. I'm anxiously awaiting their new album, which apparently is mostly written by Rick Wright and will be more than 70 percent instrumental, hopefully that means there is some ambient pieces or anything close to Echoes.
Been busy, but knew I had to check in.
