Smile A word of thanks and a tip for newcomers:

I just wanted to take a moment and say thanks to "everyone" on this forum for all their support and critical life-saving resources! Time and time again I've saved so much $$$$ on Disco 1 repairs and parts - thanks mostly to this forum! Before i first signed up for an account on here (ShadowMerchantBC) I knew almost nothing about performing DIY mechanical and cosmetic work on motor vehicles - in fact this was the first forum I ever became a active member of! But now almost a year later I carry a moderate belt of experience with working under the bonnet! Since my initial registration with LRF I've learned and performed the following DIY repairs on my former D1:

- Replaced power steering gearbox and one of the PS hoses.
- Replaced the rear prop-shaft and hardware.
- Replaced the heater fan and motor assembly.
- Replaced the fuel filter.

- Disasembled the automatic shifting assembly.
- Disasembled the CDL linkage assembly.
- Disasembled the coil springs and shock absorbers (though not without an accident)
- Disasembled wheels, hubs, brakes pads and calipers
- Disasembled brake master cylinder
- Disasembled radiator and cooling system
-Disasembled pretty much everything in the engine bay save the engine itself
- Disasembled various components of the interior including window regulators and the cluster
Etc

I've also learned a great deal about both D1 & D2 models, common and serious issues, preventative maintenance protocols, recommended fluids and techniques, buy tips - you name it! I've done a fair amount of business with other members on here, bought afew needed parts and sold some of the parts from my D1. I've have memorable conversations with some of the dedicated members on here, not all threads were equal and yes I've had my share of arguements with fellow members, but who hasn't? Just the other day I saw one guy being a complete jerk to another member just because he was asking if anyone could use their membership to look up a vehicle VIN ID for him! **** happens but all in all they are all dam good people!

I just wanted to take a step back and say THANK YOU to the admin, the moderators, the dedicated members who spend hours and hours of their personal time keeping up with all our inquires and questions (many of which have been asked sevenfold!). This is a trully community driven forum dedicated to each other and keeping our leaky Land'ys on the road. If it werent for this forum then many Land Rovers would probably be in the scrap yard right now!

Below is a brief list of some of the many truly dedicated members I've come to know in all my time on the forum:

- Spike555: A very honest guy! I once sent him a PayPal payment for his used D1 brush guard, long story short he learned that the shipping cost alone was to high and immediately sent back the funds to my PayPal account no questions asked! He could have kept the money, but instead he did the right thing! Spike is a living biological Land Rover encyclopedia! I've never know any one person to posess so my accurate knowledge on one thing as Spike does about Land Rover!

DannyLeeDisco: always pops in when you lest expect it, has long stories to tell and like Spike he is filled with first hand experience with Land Rover! He's a good bet if you need advice and every once in awhile I think he may have some useful parts to sell or trade.

Savannah Buzz: This guys always online it seems! I think he spends most of his time in the "New Member Introduction" section. If your just joint the forum and you've made your first thread, he's more than likely the first member who will greet you with a warm hello and useful info right off the bat!

Disco Mike: Admin to this forum as well as other land rover forums. He is very dedicated both to land rover vehicles and all the forum members! If you ever have a serious issue with a fellow member then Mike is the guy to contact! He's also active on every section of the forum and you will frequently see him responding to the endless inquires submitted daily. Look for his posts and pay attention. He's a busy guy and he goes out of his way to support forum members. If you ever need someone to talk to about a part or repair, or if your in a emergency situation with your Rover (say a break down on the side of the road) he's been known to give out his phone number to offer direct over the phone friendly service and advice! He's full of resources up the ying-yang and his signature is loaded with useful links, used parts directory and even Land Rover service manuals!

Honda50r: A down to earth (young guy I think) who's full of energy and experiences. He's performed his share of interesting mods to his Disco and he's a honest buyer. He's input has helped me out more than once!

Chris-Bob: This guy lives in Alaska and owns landy so you best belieave he kicks ***! Must be cold as hell up there and I'm surprised he's got Internet but even he's around to lend a helping hand.

yloDiscoII: Aside from having a awesome sporty yellow Discovery II, he's very good with the D2 series and he's full of advice tips and know how.

DiscoRover007: I haven't known this guy long but lately he's been providing very useful advice on buying a prospect 2003-04 Discovery. His input has helped me a lot already and has propped me to do more research before I obligate myself to a potential sale. Sounds like a honest rising star in the community and enjoys helping others out. That means a lot!

????: Do not remember his member name on the forum but he used to sell used power steering boxes and various other useful parts for the D1 models. I've done business with him and he's a dam good guy all way around. Not sure if he's still selling them but his prices are very acceptable.

And finally Paul Grant: Yes him and I have our differences but all in all he's a dam good guy. I always see him helping out fellow members who are short on cash but but a critical replacement part for the rig, his prices are also very reasonable and I belieave he has a shop dedicated to selling and refurbishing Land Rover parts. Like Disco Mike, Paul is full of useful mechanical know how and he has many resources. If your new to Land Rover vehicles and your worried about $$$$ for getting used parts, give him a shout. I think he also offers warranties on some of his parts (but don't quote me).

I apologize if I missed anyone and please don't be offended if your name was not listed above. I've only been here for around a year and I still haven't had the opportunity to get to know everyone yet. All in all all the active members in this forum are awesome! Treat each other right, make a lot of friends and keep your personal beliefs and rude comments at home and everyone will treat you with respect and ultimately you will save $$$$$.

This forum offers free advice, tips and comprehensive mechanical tech information on everything from buying and selling, check engine lights, DIY jobs, tire size/brand suggestions, news about local land rover events etc. Often times of your stuck on how to do a DIY repair job on your Rover, you'll find useful video clips pictures and step by step instructions provided free of charge by fellow members! You can also find a PDF downloadable Land Rover Rave manual which contains critical information on repairing and servicing your Land Rover - again its free and some members have the link to the file saved in their signature! That's a lot to offer for simple little forum like this, and a lot to be thankful for!

THANK YOU ALL FOR ALL FOR YOUR PART IN THE LAND ROVER COMMUNITY!!!!
