Hi , I have a 2012 LR4, I replaced the transmission about 2 years ago (20K miles ago) and need a new tranny. I can have a used transmission installed for about $5000. the car has 150,000 miles on it and the timing chain has not been replaced. Do you think I should make the investment in getting the used transmission installed? Thank you so much! Brennan in Austin Tx

 

Five grand for a used transmission on a 150k mile LR4? Ouch. That's a serious chunk of change. Have you gotten a second opinion on the transmission? Is it definitely shot, or could it be something else causing the problem? Also, that timing chain is a ticking time bomb at that mileage.
