I have a 1971 Rover Series 2a, which my boss bought as a project but ended up buying a newer one instead. We'd like to get rid of it but I'm getting questions I'm not quite sure how to answer about originality.

A few examples:

Is it the aluminum body or the steel one?

Is it the original engine?

Original top?


I assume the body is aluminum, because it hasn't rusted at all yet the rest of the undercarriage has. I can also verify this with a magnet.
The engine looks original but I know nothing about these... what should I look for? I will get more information on it tomorrow and post if it helps.
The top is in good shape and I'd be surprised if it was original but I haven't a clue on how to check.

Any help greatly appreciated. It's also up for sale/will put in classifieds. Located in Indianapolis, IN.

Top looks original.
Body is aluminum with steel structural members.
Engine looks original with a recently rebuilt or new carb.
Dash has been modified. Not the original location for the ignition.
Someone's been mucking around in the interior because the parking brake is on the wrong side from the steering wheel.
Front axle looks like it has Lightweight half-shafts, but not 100% sure of that.
It's been resprayed, door handles should be black.

Where are you located, how much are you asking?
