This issue has been ongoing since I purchased the vehicle and occurs with every trip, regardless of location or which phone is connected. Between my husband and me, we’ve experienced this on four different iPhones, including newer models.

Here are the symptoms:

• CarPlay regularly unsyncs mid-trip and mutes itself without warning. I then have to manually reconnect the phone and unmute it.
  
• About once every 2–3 months, an extremely loud screeching or “screaming” noise comes through the speakers just before the phone disconnects and mutes. This is very jarring, potentially harmful to hearing, and quite dangerous while driving.
  
• During hands-free calls, it’s common for the other person not to hear me and vice versa. I often have to switch to speaker on the phone and then back to CarPlay for audio to resume properly. The display often shows the system as muted during this issue, but increasing volume does nothing unless I manually toggle the audio settings.
  

These CarPlay issues are frequent, disruptive, and possibly hazardous.
