Default 1993 RRC EAS - Suspension Bottoms out on large bumps

Hey gang,

1993 RRC EAS - Suspension Bottoms out on large bumps
I have redone my EAS - rebuild the valve block, new rear air springs, and new rear shocks.

When I hit a LARGE low spot or bump on the highway, at speed, I can get the rear suspension to bottom out.

It's a very freaking loud THACK.

This happened before the new shocks as well. Did not drive it before the new Airbags were installed.

WTF do I do here? I my airbag not inflated enough? The EAS settings are on the default heights. It raises and lowers as it should. I can't figure what is wrong. Otherwise it rides nicely!

My EAS experience is from my’97 P38, but I think it’s the same system. Firstly, good on you for retaining the EAS and not switching to coils. Unfortunately we have the earliest EAS system with all the glitches, but EAS is much better than coils. I suspect you mean that one corner is fully extending, not bottoming? One of the big advantages of EAS is that it’s very quick to extend and keep the tire on the ground. This is why it is so good off road. Perhaps what you’re experiencing is a negative aspect of this advantage, and not a fault?

I mean hitting a bump causes the suspension to suddenly compress to the point it smashes the bump stop, so the axle makes contact with the frame in an unpolite way.
It makes a horrible BANG noise.

Oh. Mine does not do that. Is every corner the same? You said new air springs. What about a bad shock?

BTW I fixed this by changing the settings on the EAS, it was simply not aired up enough at "highway" speed to work properly.
After I did this, no problems. Well, hahah it's a Range Rover so the problems continued in different forms!

It is the relay under the passenger seat -- it is a white box part# AMR 1111 you can replace it with a generic 40amp 4pin but the air suspension will no longer lower overnight AND you will be unable to use an EAS Kicker. So save the AMR 1111 to make adjustments or clear error codes. Follow the Range Rover Classic USA Facebook Group...we are addressing this issue now.

On the Classic is it very simple...it is the relay under the seat or the fuse...it is rarely the bags or the compressor or the tank or a leak or sensor. If the vehicle is lowering the front left tire or both front tires or lowering and raising randomly then it is that relay.
